Confidentiality And Privacy Notice

This Notice describes how we collect, use and process personal information, and how in doing so we have taken reasonable steps to comply with the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act, which means that we respect the privacy of our clients and their families.

We collect basic personal information including, but not limited to name, physical address, telephone number/s and e-mail address, occupation, etc. We also collect sensitive confidential data, such as health information (including previous diagnoses, hospital admissions, current medications, etc.).

The above mentioned data are mainly used for communication pertaining to the account, and by implication third parties, such as administration personnel (who are required to sign a confidentiality agreement), other health care workers and medical aid schemes; to confirm appointments; or messaging within the normal scope of practice including other psychological services for assessment and evaluation, referrals, psychological reports, therapeutic, and other health purposes.

Although reasonable precautions are taken, online therapy/telehealth poses the risk of privacy or confidentiality being breached as inherent in electronic recordings or transmission of information electronically.

In all circumstances, the psychologist will make reasonable efforts to inform the client of a necessary or an unforeseen confidentiality breach. Confidentiality may be broken when the psychologist becomes aware a member of public may be at risk. Clients have the right to
